It's Competition Time! And for the last time!
We thought we'd lighten things up for a moment with a very, very serious Competition Section to test just how much readers (and ourselves! - but we can't enter the Competition) know about the fight for the right to wear the PJM.
And we want to recognise the true artistry that we see in so many letters and emails that you have written to MPs and HD Committee members, and others.
Join in and win some very special prizes! The competitions are listed on the left of this page:
Multiple Guess Stuff
-
Periodically we'll post a number of multiple-guess questions. It’s all multiple guess stuff (hint: every answer is on the PJM web site). All you have to do is click on the answer you think is correct.
-
Each month we’ll select a winner from all the right answers. If that winner has at least one answer right he or she will receive a PJM Miniature Medal (if you're a PJMer). PJMers who already have a miniature, and all other winners, can choose a book (signed by the author!) from our special PJM Library of books relevant to those Malaya-Borneo days.
Star Letters
-
We want to acknowledge and reward (with huge largesse) those supporters who write scorching letters in furtherance of this just cause.
If you have written a masterpiece, whether its an email or snail mail, email or send a copy to us and we'll publish it (anonymously if you wish). If a letter gets published, the author will receive one of our prestigious Fight4thePJM Lapel Badge and (da da dada) a book - one that we have selected as being a bit special in itself.
Taking a page out of HMG's and the HD Committee's book, our “long-established” rules (we’re making them up as we go along) prohibit double-entendres and anything more than five yawns long (let’s keep it lively).
Our prizes are priceless. They cannot be exchanged for cash (and, please, no double-meddling ... only one entry person!).
So ... come on. Have a go! Have some fun while helping us to soread the word on this just fight.
Specials!
And ... dada dada ... from time to time we'll have a special one-off competition with a special nuance and a special prize to reflect the ... errr ... special nature of the competition!
And today's the day! Our last competition!
The Last Competiton!
To celebrate our victory after a nearly 7 year fight, we are launching this final competition.
-
We are looking for the person to send us the first photograph of the PJM being worn on a parade for the first time with The Queen's permission on Remembrance Day or Remembrance Sunday. Please include the Zulu date/time the piccie was taken.
-
A second prize will be awarded to the person who sends in a photograph of the most PJMs on parade at the same time.
-
A third prize (yippeee!) will be awarded to the person who sends the most 'interesting' photograph of the events this weekend.
-
And a fourth prize for those who can't find their Brownie 127 - a special prize will be awarded to the person who sends in the most 'interesting' account of their days in Malayasia/Borneo. This can be anything from Borneo to Bugis Strasse. Just a brief report.
The prize is a very special one - first day covers relating to our service in Malaya/Malaysia and personally signed by some very special men - Bill Speakman VC, General Sir Garry Johnson, Viscount Slim, and Lesley Thomas.
And to make this a very, very special event, the very, very special first day covers will be accompanied by a very, very special book/publication about those Far East Days!
The only requirements are that the images must be in high definition so that they can be published (minimum 1MB) and that, by entering the competition, you agree that the images and text can be published without restriction.
Please send your images to me at barry@fight4thePJM.org - don't worry about file sizes. If necessary, send one image per email message.
Images and text must be received by email by 14th November.
Go on ... Have A Go! You know you want to!
Our competitions are open to everyone, visitors and members alike (but only PJMers are eligible for a miniature PJM if they win).
